Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Altegram ("we") about using the Altegram app for Android and the altegram.com website. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Altegram.
In short. Altegram is an unofficial Telegram client. Your account and chats stay with Telegram, and Telegram's terms apply to them too. Use the app lawfully and respect other people and their privacy. The app is provided "as is".
1. An unofficial Telegram client
Altegram uses the Telegram API and is part of the Telegram ecosystem, but it is an independent app: Telegram does not publish, endorse or answer for it. Telegram is a trademark of its owner; the name is used only to say what the app works with. The app says so on its first screen and in Settings → Altegram: "Unofficial Telegram client. Not affiliated with Telegram."
2. Your account and Telegram's terms
- You sign in to your own Telegram account. The account, your chats and their content are stored by Telegram, and their use is governed by Telegram's Terms of Service and its Privacy Policy.
- We have no access to your account. We cannot restore an account or messages, or lift restrictions or bans; only Telegram can.
- Telegram may restrict or ban an account under its own rules, whatever app you use.
- You are responsible for keeping your phone, sign-in codes and two-step verification password safe.
3. Age
You may use Altegram from the age of 13, or 18 in the EU, as Telegram's terms require. If your country sets a higher minimum age, that one applies; if the law requires parental consent, you must have it.
4. What you must not do
Through Altegram, as in any Telegram app, you must not:
- send spam, deceive or defraud people;
- promote violence, harass, threaten or incite hatred;
- share illegal pornography; any child sexual abuse material is strictly forbidden and is reported to Telegram and to law enforcement;
- sell or advertise illegal goods and services, or spread malware;
- create or use accounts for mass messaging, artificial engagement or evading bans; the option to add several accounts is meant for personal use;
- disrupt Telegram or Altegram, get around their protections, or impersonate others;
- publish other people's personal information without their consent.
5. Reporting and blocking
You can block and report any message, user, group or bot right in the app. Reports go to Telegram's moderators, because the content is stored by Telegram. You can also report illegal content to Telegram directly on its page. For problems with the app itself, write to us at [email protected].
6. Altegram's features
- Up to 100 accounts. Each account you add is a separate Telegram account with its own rules and limits.
- No channels and no stories. Channels are hidden: they do not appear in the chat list or search and do not open from links. There are no stories in the app at all, neither channels' nor people's. They stay available in other Telegram apps and on web.telegram.org.
- Battery and cache. In the background the app uses almost no processor time. The cache is kept for a period you set for each type of chat: by default 1 month for private chats and 2 weeks for groups, with a limit of 5 GB; any period from a day to a year can be chosen.
7. Purchases
Nothing is sold in Altegram: Telegram Premium, Telegram Stars and Premium gifts cannot be bought in the app. Stars already on your account can still be spent inside Telegram, and Premium bought elsewhere keeps working.
Bots and sellers may take payment for goods and services through Telegram Payments. Such a payment is between you, Telegram and the seller; the payment provider processes it under its own rules, which also govern refunds. We are not a party to these payments.
8. Third-party services
The app works with Telegram and Google services (notifications, maps, payments and others; see the Privacy Policy). Those companies decide how their services work and on what terms; we are not responsible for them. Telegram's sponsored messages appear in Altegram as Telegram serves them, in bots, the video player and search; Telegram chooses them; Altegram neither chooses nor changes them. Altegram does not add advertising or trackers of its own.
9. Rights in the app
The Altegram name, its logo and the website's design belong to us and may not be used without permission. Your messages and materials belong to you or their authors; we claim no rights in them.
10. No warranty
Altegram is provided "as is". It depends on Telegram, Google, your device and your network, so we do not promise that it will always work, be free of errors or support every Telegram feature. We try to fix bugs quickly, but we may change or switch off features and stop supporting old versions.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, lost data or the consequences of a Telegram account being banned. This does not limit any rights that consumer protection law in your country does not allow to be limited.
12. Ending
You can stop using Altegram at any time by uninstalling it; your Telegram account stays. To delete the account itself, use Settings → Altegram → "Delete account", which opens Telegram's page for it; all the ways are in the Privacy Policy. We may stop distributing or supporting the app.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. A new version is published on this page with a new date; we will mention significant changes in the app or in the update notes. By continuing to use Altegram after that, you accept the new version.
14. Disputes
We first try to settle disputes by writing to each other. Nothing in these terms takes away your right to go to court where you live, or the protection the consumer law of your country gives you.
